Black Dog was the first alcoholic beverage featuring activated charcoal, meaning it poured black in the glass. Because over time the activated charcoal will settle at the bottom of the can, the label was designed upside down in order to get the consumer to turn the can over to read it, thus blending the activated charcoal.
