Why do we create?
My journey with art started with photography as a young kid living in New Hampshire documenting frogs in our backyard with my parent’s 2MP Sony digital camera. Since then, I always had a fascination with the concept of capturing a moment in time so that you and remember it forever and share it with others. That is what led me to study photography at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Throughout my time there I not only learned that there are many mediums besides photography to capture a moment in time or to express a certain memory but I started to dive into other types of art.
When I graduated I wasn’t sure what path I was going on and wasn’t sure I wanted to stick to one path to begin with. I got a job that allowed me to not only use my photography skills for content creation but also my graphic design, videography and love for marketing skills.
Fast forward almost 10 years and I still am not willing to put myself in a singular box when it comes to what and how I want to create. I have found a love for being able to have a hand in the entire process, from package design to content creation to digital marketing plans.
Most of my time these days is spent working on marketing plans for emerging brands and startups as well as product/packaging design.
But I do miss the wild rides that photography brought me on, long road trips, exploring the unknown, the burning desire to capture something no one else has, and the camaraderie that comes with the people you are around when shooting.
In my free time I love to garden, travel, go for walks with my film camera, play with my dog Teddy, and quench my thirst for all things movies and TV shows (I guess you could call me somewhat of a cinephile).
